WILDWOOD HAMPSTEAD

NW11.
2025.
full renovation.

Full reconfiguration of a 1960s detached family home, balancing contemporary needs with conservation charm.

brief.

This North London home, a detached 1960s property in Hampstead Garden Suburb, is being reimagined for a young family. The brief focuses on adapting the 2,000 sq ft layout to support a more dynamic and flexible lifestyle. We’re developing multiple ground and first-floor layout options, including the possibility of a rear extension, open-plan living, and improved bedroom functionality—all while preserving the home’s architectural integrity.

details.

Our design approach rethinks the spatial logic of this four-bedroom home to meet the evolving needs of its residents. On the ground floor, proposals range from light-touch modifications to substantial interventions, including new connections between interior and garden through open-plan layouts and potential extensions. The aim is to enhance daylight, circulation, and cohesion between living zones. Upstairs, we’re proposing significant changes: resizing children’s bedrooms for equity, reworking the master suite with improved storage and a full-height window to the garden, and carving out a tranquil, multi-use guest room. Key structural adjustments—such as removing internal walls—are under consideration to unlock spatial flexibility. We’re currently refining our preferred scheme based on client feedback before progressing to the concept design stage, where architectural intent will evolve through materials, texture, and atmosphere. This transformation is a blend of practical elegance, conservation sensitivity, and forward-thinking design.
